Roald Dahl is an absolute genius.

If he was a student in Mrs Yee's class, he would have gotten 29/30 for every essay. -1 mark cause he keeps using a comma before conjunction, and another one for hid use of the word 'fag' lol

He is the master of the slice of life short story. It's always what Mrs Yee say, the examiners are looking for something that can happen in real life, but you give it a twist, an unexpected ending.

You can also give it a touch of the gruesome, like Roald Dahl, but of course you can't explicitly state it(your story will be intended for school, after all)
